New features for OPC UA, PLCnext Engineer and the WinMOD Help Viewer
With its latest enhancements, WinMOD improves key workflows relating to OPC UA communication, exporting to PLCnext Engineer and access to product information. These new features support users in simulation, testing, virtual commissioning and the use of digital twins.

- Enhanced OPC UA tag import in the WinMOD X550 OPC UA adapter
The WinMOD X550 OPC UA adapter now supports the import of OPC UA tags in both directions: read and write. This makes it easier to adopt bidirectional communication structures and utilize them directly in WinMOD. In addition, the new function enables Accept ALL server certificates the establishment of an encrypted connection using certificates. This makes OPC UA integration more flexible and easier to use – particularly in applications where WinMOD both receives and actively writes data.
- Release of the WinMOD Exporter for PLCnext Engineer version 2026.3
The WinMOD Exporter PLCnext has now been released for PLCnext Engineer 2026.3. With this release, WinMOD extends its support for the latest PLCnext Engineer environments and further ensures its use in existing simulation, testing and commissioning processes. When saving, the exporter now automatically suggests the project name as the file name. This simplifies the saving process and makes it easier to clearly assign exported files to the relevant project.
