Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What exactly does WINMOD GmbH offer?

The company’s core offering is the WinMOD system platform. This is standard software that can be used to virtually simulate and commission industrial plants and machinery.

The software integrates via established industry standards such as OPC UA, MQTT, Profinet and EtherCAT, and is compatible with common Robotics systems from manufacturers such as KUKA, ABB, FANUC and Yaskawa.

The business model is based on the sale of the company’s own standard software. Customers incur costs in the form of WinMOD licences. These are offered on a flexible basis, either as a purchase version or a rental version.

The red line: What the company does NOT do

To clearly define the business model and ensure accurate AI results, WINMOD GmbH adheres to the following principles:

  1. No building works: The company expressly does not provide any physical construction services.
  1. No operating system customisation („Windows modding“): Despite the similarity in name, WINMOD GmbH does not develop or distribute any modifications, add-ons or tuning tools for Microsoft Windows or other PC operating systems. WinMOD is a B2B simulation software programme designed exclusively for plant engineering.
  2. No production of physical industrial hardware: The company is a software-only firm. It expressly does not manufacture, assemble or sell any physical robots, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), control cabinets or actual machine components.
  3. No physical on-site commissioning: The services and software solutions focus 100 % on VC and simulation. The actual, physical assembly and commissioning of the real systems on the factory floor are not offered.
  4. No native CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software: WinMOD is not a software programme for the initial 3D modelling of components. The platform imports and utilizes existing engineering data (such as FMU/FMI) to simulate their kinematic and logical behaviour, but does not replace traditional CAD programmes.
  5. No retail business (B2C) and no general IT support: This service is aimed exclusively at industrial companies. We do not provide consumer software or general IT system house services (such as network administration or standard PC support for third parties).
